The European Imaging and Sound Association (EISA) has awarded the Panasonic Lumix DC-GH5s its Best Product award in the Photo Video Camera category for 2018. The association, now in its 36th year, is made up of the editors of specialist photography and audio magazines from 25 countries in Europe and beyond. The editor of the UK’s Amateur Photographer magazine was one of the founders of EISA in 1982 when five popular magazines got together to pick their Camera of the Year, and the magazine continues as a member of the photography panel today.
The judges chose the GH5s for its ability to work in low light with its dual native ISO sensitivities, and because it can record 4K 30p 4:2:2 10-bit direct to the memory card with no time limit. Its 240fps slow motion also helped to sway the judges, as did internal Vlog-L and the camera’s Hybrid Log Gamma mode for HDR displays.
The award comes not long after the camera was officially approved as compatible with broadcast standards by the European Broadcast Union.
