Panasonic launches complimentary loan scheme for Lumix S Series

Lumix S lenses

Panasonic has launched a new scheme to allow photographers to borrow its Lumix S series full frame cameras and lenses to try out for free. Professional and serious amateurs can trial Lumix S equipment for a two week period to cover a specific project or just to enjoy a chance to see what they can do.

The offer applies to these cameras and lenses:

  • Panasonic LUMIX S1R 47MP camera
  • Panasonic LUMIX S1 hybrid stills and video camera
  • LUMIX S PRO 50mm F1.4
  • LUMIX S PRO 70-200mm F4 O.I.S.
  • LUMIX S 24-105mm F4 MACRO O.I.S.

To take advantage of this offer users are asked to fill in a loan form to explain what kit they want to use and what they intend to do with it, as well as filling in some details about themselves. Although the offer is principally aimed at professionals Panasonic has said that all those seriously considering the S series will be able to take up the loan as well. Those needing the kit for longer than the initial two-week period can also apply for an extension.

You can apply using the Panasonic Lumix S loan form.

Panasonic LUMIX S1R

Lumix S1R
This is a super-resolution full frame mirrorless camera that offers all that you would expect from a Lumix G model but with more detail, improved dynamic range and the most incredible electronic viewfinder in the world. The base 47.3-million-pixel resolution can be boosted to an amazing 187MP using the 8-shot High Resolution mode, while the 480fps autofocusing system is lightning-quick and deadly accurate. It is primarily a stills camera, and produces stunning results, but it is also capable of 4K 60p video recording directly to the memory card.
Ideal for landscapes, portraiture, still life, product work and anything that requires ultimate detail gathering abilities.

Panasonic LUMIX S1

Lumix S1

The S1 is a hybrid full frame mirrorless camera that is designed to excel when asked to shoot stills or video. Its 24MP sensor uses larger pixels that gather more light to produce beautifully clean images even at high ISO settings, making it a master of low light situations.
In stills operation the 24MP resolution can be boosted to 96MP with the High Resolution mode, and in video mode you get 4K recording from the full width of the sensor as well as unlimited time recording in 4K 30p and FHD settings. The new firmware that adds Vlog and 4:2:2 10-bit internal recording will be free for a limited period.

LUMIX S PRO 50mm F1.4

Lumix S lenses

This is a super-fast standard lens for the Lumix S system and is designed to show off what these cameras can do. The resolution of the lens is really quite unexpected when used wide open, and when closed to the middle apertures images are frankly astonishing. With the broad barrel and large elements chromatic aberrations are almost impossible to detect and images are sharp and clean right to the corners of the frame. It is one of the best lenses on the market – if not the best. The rendering of out-of-focus areas has to be seen to be believed.

LUMIX S 24-105mm F4 MACRO O.I.S.

Lumix S lenses

This is a premium standard zoom for both cameras that will provide outstanding results in a wide range of situations. The widest focal lengths are ideal for landscapes and interiors, while the longest are perfect for portraits, products and slightly distant subjects. Designed to deliver incredible sharpness across the frame and to avoid common aberrations, the lens produces outstanding quality right through the focal range – and always with a constant maximum aperture.

LUMIX S PRO 70-200mm F4 O.I.S.

Lumix S lenses

This is a premium telephoto zoom lens that’s ideal for portraits, fashion, wildlife and sport. With a constant maximum aperture of f/4 you can be sure of its light-gathering power even at the long end, and when attached to one of the S-series bodies the dual IS system allows up to 6 extra stops of longer shutter speeds than would usually be safe for hand-holding. The optical design writes out chromatic aberrations and ensures sharpness from corner to corner, and produces high contrast images that are filled with detail.
