My Photographer of the year entry. I wanted to add this to my gallery as it's a location I love and a shot I've wanted for some time having seen a few images of it. It then got me wondering about he story of it....... Details of the story behind the memorial where hard to find until Ralston's brother contacted a photographer who had taken many shots of the memorial and kindly shared the story. The Ralston Cairn is in memory of Ralston Muir who sadly passed away after suddenly falling ill with a rare form of leukaemia he never knew he had...aged just 32. He loved to climb in the area and his ashes are also scattered here. His friends still visit to have a 'Dram' with him. He also said it was good that through the photography the memory of his Brother lives on and Ralston would be pleased with the attention the spot was getting. It certainly made the words more poignant for me once I'd read the story....'These are my mountains and I have come home RALSTON'.
