Reflections in the eye of the Robin

Full Size

By kernowkid

Taken with lens set to full rather than 5 metres to infinity. The robin was very obliging and was almost running around my feet.If you look into its eye you should see a reflection of me and a fellow photographer in its eye I hope.

Great capture using a very long lens at close quarters.

I’m thinking of getting this lens for shooting surfers/kite surfers etc., are you happy with the sharpness at the long end? This pic looks sharp at this resolution, are the full size versions good too? I ask as I’ve seen mixed reviews about this lens at the long end.

I have just posted a photo of a windsurfer I took with the 100-400 lens mounted on the G7 I used to own. It is as you will note it at the 35mm focal length equivalent of 800mm. so you can draw your own conclusions as to the quality of the lens.

Used one area focus and manual settings. I used the external lens mount supplied to grab hold of for stability rather than placing my hand under the lens barrel.

Plenty of detail in those feathers, nice one. The 100-400 is one lens I would love to own, but!!!!

I owned the original 100-300mm lens but didn’t like it. Jessops was offering free interest on the purchase of 100-400 lens over 12 months a year ago so that is why I acquired it. Traded in 100-300 mm lens as a deposit. I was very pleased with the photo.
