I wasn't really organised for the eclipse but a quick google suggested that seeing it reflected in water or glass, might cut down some of the glare - though care was still needed. I don't have a pool nearby but a black seed tray filled with water improvised and was quite effective, though focusing on the reflected image wasn't always easy and I did manage to take a few of the actual event. As it happened there was patchy cloud during the eclipse, which actually helped me get a few shots that I wouldn't have otheriwise risked. These aren't brilliant - but at least I saw it and have some record. The horizontal out-of focus lines on the top shot are tree branches - but I quite liked the overall effect and think you can see a sunspot on this one.
