Myrtos Beach in Kefalonia is often describes as one of the most beautiful beaches in Greece - it is certainly one of the most photographed. The sea really is a most incredible colour. Despite appearances, the beach is mainly pebble and not ideal for swimming due to strong under-currents. The next (distant) headland, beyond this beach is the location of Assos, where we spent the second week of our holiday. The village sits around the bay on the little neck on land and the hilltop at the end of the peninsula is topped by the ruins of a Venetian castle.
