Iona Abbey

Full Size

By mariahiles

Iona is a small island off the south west corner of Mull and is the location of one of the oldest abbeys in Europe. It was founded by Saint Columba and his followers, who came there from Ireland in the year 563. The abbey was expanded in the 15th century and rebuilt and restored in the early 20th century.
