It would be nice to tell you that we stumbled upon this creature in the wilds of the Canadian Rockies - but that would be a lie. They are loners who spend their summer up in the mountains and are not easy to find, let alone get close to - though we were lucky enough to catch a very distant glimpse of one on our first visit to Canada, 10 years ago. This particular Moose - a 5 year old female named Cherry - was at the BC Wildlife Park, near Kamloops. The park is involved in conservation work, helps rehabilitate injured animals for return to the wild and looks after those which cannot be released. Cherry posed obligingly for us and we were able to take some quite natural looking pictures of her.
