Not sure how I manage to miss this one Grant. Good gritty shot, with excellent editing to bring out the detail. Would have thought the conditions (i.e. dark with a bright flame) would have been difficult to capture the level of detail you’ve got, and can only assume it’s an HDR image. Chances are photos like this will have more value in another 30 years or so when no more small blacksmiths (or other useful and valuable tradesmen) exist ‘cos we’ve got a country full of call centres nobody really wants to hear from.
Thanks Andy, I have to admit that I was a bit disappointed when this one sunk without comment as I’m rather fond of it! Luckily it wasn’t too dark in there as I opened a roller shutter door to let the light in, Lightroom & Clarity did the rest ( single exposure )
I will be going back there at some point for more shots, it really is like going back in time there but quite sad as this once mighty company has gone from making engineering equipment for the world ( you can see their machines on HMS Belfast ) to employing 8 people making a few bespoke parts for F1 & the Dubai oil industry
