A Small Copper taken at College Lake again. I think this is the first one I've seen, can't recall having seen any before, certainly haven't got any pictures.

Beautiful Gerry. I’ve never seen one of these. The wings almost look as though they’re made of fur.
Thanks Barbara, when you get close up, it’s amazing how hairy some butterflies are.
Love this shot Gerry. – the detail is wonderful
Thanks once again for comment Suzie.
Stunning Gerry. A lovely composition. I’ve also never seen one of these. We don’t seem to have had a very great variety of butterflies this year – probably about five. Most seem to be small whites or speckled woods.
Thanks Caroline, it’s not been a good year.
What a great picture Gerry the detail is superb, when I see photos like this it reminds me that I must use my extension tubes more often!
Thanks Janet, the ex tubes are one of the best accessories I’ve bought. They were only cheap ones, but they do the job.
Must say Gerry, i find this and your other insect shots amazing. So much detail and sharpness.
I own the 100-300. Never had results a good as yours, and never even thought of using ext tubes.
I have to ask, forgive my ignorance. Are you taking these shots hand held ? Your shutter speeds ect seem to indicate so.
Think i’ll add some tubes to Santas list !
Thanks very much for your kind comments Mike. Yes they are all hand held. You must get yourself some ex tubes ready for next spring. They extend the use of the 100-300 a great deal and no extra glass in front of the sensor.
Superb Shot Gerry – A master of the 100-300 mm –
