Taken on a weekend visit to small island near to Kochi in Kerala, India. The locals fish the waters by creating an artificial channel from one side the island to the other with a large pond in the middle, during the day when the tide comes in, fish swim down the channel into the pond. As the tide turns, the fisherman leave their homes on the island and drop planks of wood into sluice gates in the channels preventing the fish from leaving. Then it's a simple task to cast their nets into the pond and retrieve their haul. Here a fisherman is closing the channel while his grand-daughter, in her Sunday best keeps him company.
