Charles Chaplin, KBE (16 April 1889 – 25 December 1977) was an English actor, comedian, and filmmaker .The town of Waterville, Co Kerry was a favourite holiday spot of Charlie Chaplin and his family who used to stay in The butler Arms Hotel. They first visited the town in 1959 and came back every year for over ten years. There is a statue of him in it the centre of the village in his memory. I wonder what would he have to say about that...... I knew the statue was there , however when I got there a red plastic fencing off construction was the backdrop , ( it was Friday the 13th after all) unperturbed I went ahead and captured this image. I remembered Charlie was accused of communist sympathies by the FBI, so maybe the red in this image is a little pungent.
