The Perfect Arch.

Full Size

By Gerryatrickgolf

This is the first time I've seen the wings of an aggressive male Mute Swan meet in the middle to form an arch. He was really wound up, the reason for his anger is just out of shot on the right.

Wonderful shot Gerry. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a display like this, and beautifully captured.

I’m intrigued. I’d like to know the reason for his anger. I’ve never seen this type of display before either.

Hi Sarah, the reason for his anger was another male swan invading his space. I’ve seen them chase off other swans with their wings raised, but never seen the wings meet in the middle like this.

This is such a wonderful shot Gerry. I’ve seen them chase others off, but never this kind of display.

I very much admire your work, Gerry. Clearly you love nature – and you seem to have an abundance of patience to be able to capture those moments of real beauty. This particular image is, as Suzie and Andy say, wonderful – almost surreal (so you can guess why it is particularly appealling for me!).
