Great shot John, like it.
Cheers Gerry,
I’ve just ordered one of these little laser projectors myself so that I can explore the possibilities. Some of the long (5 sec) exposure shots I took have me thinking about how to employ one in a studio setting.
John
Be careful peeps, lasers can damage the sensors in cameras.
Yeah Balbir – I should have said that you must always be careful when shooting any intense light source (including the sun). In this case the lasers were fairly low power (as required by H&S in a bar environment where they are in peoples line of sight a lot of the time – you don’t want to blind your customers!). Lasers at big events can be much more powerful and should be treated with real caution. Exposure time also plays a large part when it comes to possible risk. This shot has a brief, 1/160th sec exposure – the much longer ones I’ve been experimenting with lately don’t have the actual laser source in the frame. And remember that in environments like this the sensor on a G is always exposed – put your lens cap on if you’re not sure where the camera is pointing!
BTW – the sensor in my beloved G5 has yet to suffer any damage from my willingness to experiment 😉
