SMOKELESS ZONE

By BALDYIAN

A different view of Newcastle than my normal output, from 6 stories + up on Boxing day night. It reminds me of Mary Poppins :) G5 & 15 sec exposure with Oly 9-18mm @ 12mm quite a heavy crop Best viewed large :)

I’ve never been up North, Ian, and always assumed it’s dull and grey (don’t no how to insert smiley face) but this is such a beautiful vibrant pic, the sky looks incredible.

    Paul.

A very good, high-level shot of the from the city, looking towards the ‘Bridge’ and ‘The Sage’ – and the ‘Baltic’ is there as well – terrific!
Did you climb up Grey’s Monument to get this this pic, Ian?

Thanks for your comments Paul 🙂 this was taken during a lull in the storm so to speak, as it had been raining heavy for hours, but the long exposure brings out the sky, helped with all the light pollution which you miss on a shorter exposure shot.

Get up North Paul, they even have Birds lol

    Cheers Ian

Thought i”d try something different Ray, this is actually from the Tyne Bridge, stood on the Parapet next to the Samaritans helpline sign ( for obvious reasons , as it”s bloody high ) Only managed 2 shots as i was drawing attention to myself even though it was a quiet Boxing day night and i didn”t want the Emergency services being called out.

On a serious note it makes you wonder looking down from this height , how utterly desperate someone has to be to throw themselves off here, hopefully it does not happen anymore .
