‘My Video for #4Kphoto: Papal Adulation' https://vimeo.com/182837369 I was very fortunate to be in Rome when Pope Francis canonized Mother Teresa. As you can imagine, the crowds were huge. Luckily I arrived just in time as Pope Francis greeted the excited pilgrims. Because of a very difficult shooting situation, I decided the best way to get coverage of the Pope was by using my mono-pod. This gave the bonus of showing how big the crowd was from a unique position. When selecting a image from the long clip, I preferred showing the Pope from a distance to illustrate how one man had so many following his movements through to St Peters Square. The colours were acceptable, but when I changed it to black and white, I found the image more powerful, with a sea of waving hands, many clutching cameras and phones to record the historic event. I did not crop the image, but felt the photograph was let down by the flat sky. I had taken some footage a few days earlier of a cloudy sky, so decided to add the clouds in post. I hope this improves the black and white photograph. 4K video was very useful to record such a event, and I am sure it would have been almost impossible to get the image using normal photo mode.
