Just bought a lumix g3 on the 5th april still reading up on it I heard that Olympus lenses are compatible with this camera at the fraction of the cost is this correct ?

Yes & no. Only Olympus Micro Four Thirds lenses are compatible, and as they do not incorporate anti-shake, (which is in the camera body of Olympus M 4/3), they are less complex than Lumix optics.

All Olympus lenses are compatible with Panasonic Micro Four cameras via adapters, many of the Olympus and Leica Four Thirds lenses also have working contrast auto-focus on mft bodies…
Also I wouldn’t say Olympus glass is less complex than Lumix optics.
