The End

Full Size

By Don

Yes, I've been having some fun with Elements! This is the first attempt at the final image of a set that I am getting together for my attempt at ARPS. Hence the title. I'd be interested in any views, bearing in mind it is a first shot.

Hi, Georgina. Thanks for your comment.

How’s it done? If you have software like Elements where you can create layers and select pieces of images, it’s not too difficult. Here, I took a shot of a book, and another of my arm in the same place (to ensure similarity of lighting). I created text in a suitable script (and colour) and distorted it to echo the perspective on the back of the book. From the photograph of my arm, I selected that part of my arm that I wanted to have appear in the final image. This I superimposed (having reduced it in size) on the image of the book back selected from the shot of my arm simply the part of the arm that I wanted to use. I also did a little work with the lighting levels and colour saturation, together with adding credible shadows to unify the components of the image.

This is only a first shot and I would probably try the same thing again using natural lighting. The angle of the hand could be improved and the overall image could be sharper and tonally better. So, back to the drawing board!
