After Tichy

Full Size

By Don

I've mentioned Miroslav Tichy before - an eccentric man and well worth reading about. His work was in film. Here is a very, very poor attempt to copy his style. The frame, which is lousy, tries to replicate Tichy's use of old frames for his work. Why try to copy his work? Well, it widens my own perceptions of what the camera can do, and also makes me see the image through the lens in a new way.

    Love it!
I also try to copy other eminent photographers. As you say it widens your own perceptions and improves your ability to look at and appreciate the work of others.

I also like your tacky frame, gives it a very 30′s look.

Thanks, Alan! It’s interesting that Tichy deliberately set out to make bad photographs – but ended up with the such intriguing and romantic pieces. With me its often the other way around!

I always like a picture that says “look at me”, and this one certainly does.
Intriguing from a “docu-pic” point of view, and also interesting to a photographer, who wants to know what the origional looked like, and what you did to it.
I’ve not heard of Miroslav Tichy but will google him later.
